Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Signalling Project Engineer to join our team at a leading rail consultancy. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Network Rail and experience in implementing systems and procedures to deliver high-quality and safe projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to ensure cost-effective and high-quality project delivery.
  2. Review relevant legislation and collaborate with governmental departments to ensure compliance.
  3. Apply engineering controls and procedures to projects, ensuring adherence to Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards.
  4. Conduct risk assessments and HAZOP analyses to identify potential hazards and ensure environmental aspects are managed in accordance with Network Rail Environmental Policy.
  5. Monitor projects for compliance with Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards and project control procedures.
  6. Provide technical advice to project and programme management on construction activities, testing, and commissioning.
  7. Ensure design and construction elements meet legislative requirements, including CDM regulations.
  8. Verify contractors' design, construction, and specialist personnel are competent.
  9. Undertake reviews of design and construction activities and arrange audits to monitor safety and quality.
  10. Assume the duties of nominated design and construction/design construction engineer.
  11. Conduct accident investigations as required.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  1. Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent level in a relevant engineering discipline.
  2. Experience working client-side within the rail sector.
  3. Signalling project experience, including CDM, risk assessment, and engineering management competency.
  4. Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE, IMechE, IET).
  5. Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification.
