Tissue Viability Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced registered nurse to join our Tissue Viability team on a part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment, where you will have the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our patients.
About the RoleThe Tissue Viability service provides expert advice and support on the management of complex wounds across the Trust. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with ward-based staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Your passion for wound care and prevention of pressure ulcers will be essential in driving our service forward.
Main Responsibilities- Develop, improve, and maintain high standards of care relating to tissue viability
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate prevention and management plans for patients with complex tissue viability needs
- Provide education, support, and act as a resource for members of the multidisciplinary team, patients, and families with regard to wound management and tissue viability
- Support clinical staff to implement the Trust's Pressure Ulcer Prevention Strategy, ensuring high standards of practice are maintained
- Support the process of accurate reporting and analysis of pressure ulcers, including investigation processes

Requirements- Registered Nurse on NMC register
- Educated to degree level (or working towards)
- Recent post-registration experience working within an acute hospital setting
- Experience of educating and teaching clinical staff
- Experience caring for patients with complex wounds
- Post-registration education
- Recognised teaching/trainer qualification/course
- Experience of working in a Tissue Viability role
- Experience using Quality Improvement Methodologies
- Computer literacy skills including MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams
- Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to patients and others
- Clinical competencies to include topical negative pressure, compression bandaging, maggot therapy
- Awareness of aspects of current NHS and Tissue Viability issues and initiatives
- Understanding of NICE/EPUAP guidelines in relation to Tissue Viability and pressure ulcer prevention and management
- Understanding of leg ulcer management best practice guidance
- Ability to respond positively to change
- Ability to work unsupervised and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
