About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Highways Operative to join our team at our Chippenham Depot, working closely with our highways teams in Wiltshire. Our Highways team plays a vital role in keeping communities moving, and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about manual outdoor work and eager to develop their skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team undertaking highways repairs, including potholes, patching, drainage, footways, and general highway maintenance.
  • Use technology to input safety data and maintenance records.
  • Drive and operate plant and equipment where trained, necessary for daily tasks.
  • Take responsibility for vehicles, plant, and materials in your charge.
  • Provide direction and supervision to less experienced operatives when necessary.
  • Undertake winter and emergency maintenance activities on a standby rota.
Requirements
  • Clean driving license.
  • Commitment to Health and Safety.
  • Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy.
  • Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • LGV Class C driving license or willingness to support investment in LGV Class C training during the probationary period.
  • CSCS Card.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Highways experience.
  • New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Operative Accreditation.
  • Lantra 12d.
