**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Editor to lead the development and launch of our new online-only gold open access journal, The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women's Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day editorial handling of papers and peer-review, driving the editorial strategy of the journal, and developing and maintaining relationships with our global obstetrics, gynaecology, & women's health communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the editorial strategy for The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women's Health, including managing the peer-review process and ensuring the highest quality of published content.
- Build and maintain relationships with our global obstetrics, gynaecology, & women's health communities, including researchers, clinicians, and other stakeholders, to attract high-quality research for the journal.
- Represent the journal at conferences and events, staying up-to-date with current developments in obstetrics, gynaecology, & women's health and identifying potential topics of interest.
- Write editorials and other content for the journal as required, showcasing your expertise and thought leadership in the field.
- Collaborate with our team to develop new initiatives for the future development of the journal, including identifying new areas of research and developing strategies to attract top talent.
- Participate in projects across RELX and, on occasion, with Elsevier, to drive innovation and growth in our medical publishing business.
Requirements:
- A Medical Degree in a relevant discipline or a PhD in a related subject field with postdoctoral research experience.
- Thorough knowledge of biological and medical sciences, and broader social issues pertaining to obstetrics, gynaecology, & women's health.
- Ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with external stakeholders, including medical and research professionals, internal teams, and members of the media.
- Excellent command of the English language and the ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner.
- Proficient with IT systems, including MS Office.
