We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to lead our team in the Neurosciences department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to take on a leadership role, working closely with our team of experts to provide high-quality patient care. As a Band 7 Senior Occupational Therapist, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients with complex needs and providing guidance and support to junior therapists.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in an acute hospital setting, particularly in neurosciences, and possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication and organisational abilities.

You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to assess and develop treatment plans for patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care. Your expertise in occupational therapy will enable you to make a significant impact on patient outcomes and contribute to the development of clinical practice within the specialty area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Occupational Therapists and support workers across multiple wards
  • Manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, prioritising and organising your workload effectively
  • Provide regular supervision and support to junior therapists, students, and assistants
  • Develop and expand clinical practice within the specialty area, collaborating with colleagues to drive excellence in patient care
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BSc in Occupational Therapy or Dip COT
  • HCPC registration and evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
  • Significant experience working in an acute hospital setting at Band 6 or above, preferably in neurosciences
  • Excellent leadership skills, collaborative working style, and ability to communicate effectively
