Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Structural Engineer to join our client's growing civil structures team in Redhill. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of UK experience in temporary works design, including buildability and workshop discussions with contractors. You will be responsible for designing structural systems using major materials (RC, steel, masonry, timber) and ensuring compliance with BS 5975 and Eurocodes. Additionally, you should have expertise in structural design software and be skilled in writing sound technical reports.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design structural systems for various projects, considering factors like buildability and workshop discussions with contractors
  2. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including BS 5975 and Eurocodes
  3. Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors and other stakeholders
  4. Lead and mentor junior team members, providing guidance and support as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Chartered degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (MICE or MIStructE preferred)
  • Proven experience in temporary works design and project management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit interfaces and structural design software
  • Rail experience is a plus
