Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled NI Fitter to join our team at Schindler Group. As a key member of our installation team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful installation of lift and escalator equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install lift and escalator well and ancillary equipment in accordance with approved procedures, selecting the appropriate tools and equipment for the job.
- Install traction equipment, including siting, assembly, fitting, alignment, and adjustment of lift and escalator equipment.
- Install lift ropes and adjust them in accordance with approved procedures, including suspension, safety, and governor ropes for new or reconstructed lift equipment.
- Install lift doors and frames, including manual and power-operated solid sliding doors, multi-leaf doors, hinged doors, collapsible gates, shutter gates, and bi-parting doors and shutters, door operators, and safety devices for new or reconstructed lift equipment.
- Check and set the lift and escalator installation in accordance with approved procedures, including final checks and adjustments prior to final test and commissioning.
- Carry out site surveys to ensure accurate installation.
- Keep the supervisor informed of work progress, hours spent, and any non-compliance.
- Stay in communication with customers and supervisors to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Attend relevant training sessions to maintain and improve skills.
- Conduct all work in accordance with Schindler Group's Quality Corporate policy.
- Comply with Schindler Group's Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current UK legal requirements and Schindler Group safety requirements.
- Contribute to Schindler Group's safety objectives by maintaining and monitoring current safety systems under direct control and implementing agreed changes to the safety management system.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 minimum in Lift/Escalator Installation or equivalent.
- Possession of a relevant/valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
- More advanced product and installation knowledge/experience.
- Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with a flexible approach.
- Good communication skills at different levels (client/installation managers/SAIS inspectors).
- Good punctuality.
- Manual dexterity - requires the use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate various hand and power tools and to record written information.
- Full UK driving license.
