About the Role

Carbon Zero Consulting, a part of the Geosciences team within RSK Group, is seeking a skilled Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be located in a commutable distance from our offices in Birmingham, Coventry, or Derby.

The Consultant will focus on undertaking, managing, and reporting on field work activities across the UK, including borehole drilling, soil and water sampling, thermal response tests, and groundwater pump tests. Responsibilities will vary according to experience levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct, supervise, or review field activities throughout the UK, adhering to national standards and codes of practice.
  • Manage fieldwork activities and subcontractors, depending on experience.
  • Undertake project management duties and resolve technical issues.
  • Prepare factual and/or interpretative reports.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage a variety of geo-environmental and/or geotechnical projects for external clients and internal teams within RSK.
  • Provide technical and scientific support at all stages of assigned projects and control project costs.
  • Prepare and check technical notes, drawings, and geotechnical and/or geo-environmental reports.
  • Contribute to business development activity.
Requirements
  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, or a related subject.
  • Interest in fieldwork and managing drilling and testing operations.
  • Aptitude for setting up field equipment.
  • Ability to manually lift and assemble heavy or bulky field equipment.
  • Computer literate and skilled with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word, Excel, GIS, and PowerPoint.
  • Full UK driving licence.
