We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker to join our team in Nottingham during an exciting time of transformation and development. Our service is evolving to better meet the needs of children, young people and their families, and we are looking for a dynamic individual to help us achieve this vision.

Key responsibilities of the post holder will include;

Providing advice and support to parents/carers and professionals regarding the Neurodevelopmental pathway in Nottingham

Reviewing referrals made to the pathway, carefully evaluating the information provided and making informed recommendations inline with Local and National Guidance.

Deliver evidence-based programmes aimed at supporting families by providing them with knowledge, tools and practical approaches to support their child/children's identified needs with the aim of enhancing their understanding to support their child/children's wellbeing and development, from a neurodevelopmental perspective.

The ideal candidate will have;

· A good understanding of the stages of Child Development and the awareness of factors that may disrupt this, such as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Trauma and Attachment that may adversely impact on a child/young person's social and emotional development.

· A good understanding of Neurodiversity and how this may impact on a child's development, learning and behaviour. Knowledge of inclusive practices and strategies to support children and young people where neurodiversity is being queried.

· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and a rapport with children, young people and their families. An understanding of the barriers families may face, such as language, culture and disability and the ability to engage and communicate in a way that overcomes these.

· Ability to be empathetic, non-judgmental and culturally sensitive to ensure families feel heard, valued and supported.

This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
