We are currently seeking an Offshore Maintenance Manager to provide support with the engineering management and maintenance of MSSC's offshore vessels.
The successful candidate will have a key role in delivering the capability and availability of MSSC's offshore vessels to provide sea-going experience for cadets and ensuring the safety of all personnel on board.
The main purpose of the role is to provide day-to-day support in identifying defects and safety shortcomings, determining solutions, and assisting in rectification or organizing cost-effective professional repairs at advantageous prices.
Additionally, the Offshore Maintenance Manager will be responsible for producing, overseeing, and tracking (technically and financially) the winter maintenance work packages for the fleet.
Progressive development of MSSC's Safety Management System, as related to the technical running and management of each offshore vessel, is also a key aspect of this role.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in marine engineering, with experience in health and safety, marine equipment operation, engineering maintenance, refit planning, and execution.
A broad engineering experience across the mechanical, electrical, and electronic disciplines is also desirable.
Experience in using and managing Electronic Planned Maintenance Systems is essential.
The successful candidate will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with ship and shore staff, external authorities, suppliers, and contractors.
Health and fitness necessary to obtain an industry-recognized medical certification (ENG1) is a requirement for this role.
Experience working with young people is also an advantage.
The Offshore Maintenance Manager will be responsible for managing records to support and evidence MSSC's maintenance programme.
Acting as an occasional relief engineer on board any of the three larger vessels is also a key aspect of this role.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including 25 working days pro rata of paid holiday per annum, plus public and bank holidays observed in England and Wales, increasing to 29 days after two years' service.
Life assurance (4x salary) for those who opt to join the pension scheme, private medical insurance, and pension (employer contribution up to 10%) are also part of the benefits package.
We are investing in our employees' development and have an annual calendar of learning and development opportunities, designed to support employees to develop into their roles and stretch them to achieve their full potential.
We recognize our responsibilities to safeguard and protect the young people and vulnerable adults with whom we work.
We do all we can to promote their health, safety, and wellbeing, and we expect our staff to share this commitment and work in line with safeguarding policy, the MSSC's values and ethos of inclusivity.
All successful applicants are required to attend safeguarding training and undergo a criminal record check.
