Research Associate in Space Physics

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join our team at Lancaster University's Space and Planetary Physics group. The successful candidate will work on an STFC-funded project investigating ionospheric outflow at Jupiter, collaborating with project partners at UCL.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a 1-D numerical model to globally characterise Jupiter's ionospheric outflow
  • Contribute to 3D General Circulation Models of the thermosphere and the latest descriptions of the planet's intrinsic magnetic field structure
  • Participate in project-aligned research and disseminate results through peer-reviewed publications
  • Engage with the national and international research community through conference attendance and workshops
Requirements:
  • PhD in space physics, atmospheric physics, or a related field
  • Experience in numerical modelling and planetary physics, including magnetospheric and/or atmospheric expertise
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
