Power Distribution Specialist

Gordon Murray Group is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our ultra-exclusive cars.
Key Responsibilities- Concurrent Engineering: Drive concurrent engineering efforts for our hyper cars vehicle range, with emphasis on electrical architecture design performance and power distribution.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering: Contribute to building model-based understanding of systems architecture, focusing on the electrical interfaces between systems, dynamic systems interactions, and interactions with the environment, including user and production tools interfaces.
- Research and Analysis: Research, analyse and recommend architecture and networking strategies accounting for vehicles and feature roadmaps.
- Collaboration and Delivery: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery of binary and distributed software-controlled functions relevant to power distribution and power management.
- Requirements and Documentation: Formulate requirements and Functional Description documents, including defining network and other electrical interfaces for subsystems of the electrical architecture.
- System Analyses and Reviews: Participate in system analyses and reviews to ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, security, and legal requirements.
- Component and System Development: Coordinate component and system development with suppliers, ensuring quality, managing risks, and adhering to project timelines.
- Test Asset Design and Maintenance: Apply electrical domain knowledge to support activities related to designing and maintaining test assets, such as lab-cars and component test rigs.
- Engineering Changes and Issue Resolution: Manage engineering changes and collaborate on addressing issues arising during the engineering lifecycle.
- Significant Experience: Significant experience in systems engineering, particularly in electrical architectures design and power distribution for internal combustion engine vehicles.
- Electrical Interfaces and Networks: Demonstrable understanding of underlying electrical interfaces, vehicle networks and diagnostic technologies.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering Methods: Exposure to model-based systems engineering methods, languages and tools such as SysML, Capella, etc.
- Electrical Distribution Systems: Working knowledge Electrical Distribution Systems, their development methodologies, and test and validation strategies.
- Reliability Analysis and Safety: Experience conducting FMEA, Reliability Analysis, Safety and Fault Tree analyses, etc.
- Project Engineering and Risk Management: Experience of project engineering with Tier 1 suppliers, preparation of project documentation and reports. Risk management, mitigation, and recovery planning.
- Functional Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Experience with Functional Safety standards, as well as familiarity with regulatory compliance processes, would be advantageous.
- Education and Qualifications: Possession of an Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive or similar honours degree. Other recognised qualifications combined with relevant experience will be considered.
- Driving License and Visa Requirements: Full driving license is essential and no visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union.
