We are seeking a skilled Contract Lawyer to join our Legal Team at Marston Holdings Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for reviewing and assessing the risks of client and supplier contracts.

Marston Holdings Limited is a parent company formed of eight entities that each specialise in key areas of our overarching business. We are the UK's largest judicial services company and pioneers in clean air technology, offering services that support local and central government, utilities, and private sectors through the delivery of market leading integrated technology-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing clients and supplier's contracts and supporting the Commercial Counsel in meeting relevant deadlines.
  • Reviewing contract terms and specifications, including recommending appropriate limits of liability, and identifying risks and providing legal advice.
  • Acting as a lawyer, primarily responsible for non-complex legal matters arising from the Marston Group and external clients included with the portfolio of work covered by the team.
  • Assisting in the preparation of contracts variation, termination letters, contracts drafting and external contracts.
  • Supporting the Commercial Counsel in legal process reviews to ensure efficient and effective working practices.
  • Liaising with senior stakeholders and officers as necessary in respect of the caseload of matters undertaken seeking appropriate instructions and providing expert professional advice.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working in an "in-house" commercial legal team.
  • Experience of contract and procurement law, bids, tenders, commercial law, data protection.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards national policies and legal procedures that apply to the area of work undertaken by the team.
  • Qualified UK Solicitor or Barrister (NQ-2 PQE is desirable).
