Senior Management Accountant Job Description

Elevation Recruitment Group's Senior Finance division is seeking a highly skilled Senior Management Accountant to join a thriving construction business based in Wetherby. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious CIMA/ACCA qualified accountant to further develop their management accounts knowledge while developing junior direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Development: Develop and support up to 3 direct reports, providing guidance and mentorship to help them grow in their roles.
  • Financial Support: Collaborate with the Financial Controller to provide support on finance team tasks and projects, ensuring seamless execution and timely delivery.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and produce monthly management accounts, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Risk Management: Identify gaps in processes and escalate risks and issues to ensure the company's financial stability.
  • Business Partnering: Provide business partnering to Directors and Regional Directors, supporting them in interpreting monthly financial results and making informed decisions.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Develop and maintain Excel reporting, building, improving, and maintaining reports to provide valuable insights to stakeholders.
  • Reconciliations: Maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Perform other ad hoc sales and margin analysis tasks, as well as cost analysis and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Fully qualified with a minimum of 4 years of experience (CIMA/ACCA).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience producing monthly management accounts.
  • Skills: Experienced in budgeting and forecasting processes, with strong IT and Excel skills.
  • Management Experience: Minimum of 1 year of management experience.
  • Commercial Reporting: Previous experience of developing commercial reporting.
  • Rebates: Previous knowledge of rebates (desirable but not essential).
  • Leadership: Proven ability to develop others and focus on team goals, with a proactive approach to self-development.
