Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Substance Use Therapist to join our team at Carlisle House, Ireland.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing biopsychosocial therapeutic interventions within a Substance Misuse Residential Treatment Programme. This will involve working closely with Service Users, their families and staff to ensure the execution of excellent standards of care, promoting dignity and respect, and engaging with Service Users in the process of change through building a strong collaborative therapeutic alliance.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To work within a systemic model of treatment when engaging with Service Users.
  2. To assist in the admission and induction of Service Users to the Residential Substance Misuse Treatment Programme, in accordance with Carlisle House policies and procedures.
  3. To provide a range of treatment interventions for service users, including group therapy.
  4. Fo facilitate therapeutic group work.
  5. To manage an individual caseload through Link Work, promoting Service User strengths and expertise in developing, reviewing and updating treatment plans as required.
  6. To participate in the feedback process with service users as appropriate, in collaboration with other team members.
  7. To facilitate post programme support groups as required.
  8. To be responsible for the day-to-day management of medicines, ensuring they are appropriately received, stored and administered, in accordance with Carlisle House policies and current legislation and guidelines.
  9. To undertake Self Administration of Medication Risk Assessments, and ensure outcomes are recorded and adhered to accordingly.
  10. To carry out administration of medication audits in line with RQIA requirements.
  11. To undertake health checks with regard to Service Users participating in physical activities.
  12. To ensure a rigorous monitoring and recording practice is adhered to.
  13. To respond to Helpline calls when required.
  14. To carry out alcohol/drug screening tests in accordance with Carlisle House policies and procedures when required.
  15. To participate in training courses and staff meetings as appropriate.
  16. To promote a cohesive team approach, and a welcoming atmosphere to all Service Users, their families and staff.
  17. To engage as a reflective practitioner participating in continual professional development and meeting the requirements of professional requirements.
  18. To meaningfully participate in clinical supervision.
  19. To adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  20. To be willing to work within the ethos of the Carlisle House and the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
  21. To participate in an On-Call rota.
  22. To participate in the assessment and management of risk.
  23. To undertake any other relevant duties which may be required of the post.
