Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced mental health practitioner to join our team as a Structured Clinical Management Practitioner. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in working with clients with complex emotional needs and personality disorder, and will be able to provide specialist mental health assessment and risk assessment/management.

The role offers the opportunity to further develop skills in offering an evidenced-based intervention, Structured Clinical Management (SCM), for service users with Complex Emotional Needs (CEN) in the Core Teams in Barnet and Enfield. You will have access to SCM training and receive regular group and individual supervision.

The ideal candidate will have a qualification in a mental health or social care field, and will have experience of working with service users with personality disorder, suicidal ideation, and self-harm. They will also have the ability to manage a complex caseload without direct supervision, and to contain, explore, and formulate an understanding of high levels of distress.

The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures, and will be able to liaise with other professionals to contribute to the establishment of continuity of care across the service.

The role requires the ability to work and travel across the geographical area or across integrated teams, and to be able to identify, provide, and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours.

The North London Mental Health Partnership is a partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust, and the successful candidate will be part of a team that is committed to improving the lives of people with Complex Emotional Needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulate and implement appropriate SCM treatment plans with the support of colleagues in the SCM Pathway
  • Liaise with other professionals to contribute to the establishment of continuity of care across the service
  • Offer consultation and support to Core Team colleagues within an SCM framework
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures
  • Undertake frequent risk assessment and risk management for individual patients within the formal therapy setting
