Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our Acute Stroke Team in East and North Hertfordshire. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work alongside physiotherapists, occupational therapists, consultants, dieticians, and psychologists to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to develop their skills and expertise in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for assessing and intervening with patients with acquired communication and swallowing needs, and will work closely with the Speech and Language Therapy team to provide support and guidance to junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and intervention to patients with acquired communication and swallowing needs
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Support junior colleagues, including newly qualified Speech and Language Therapists and Speech and Language Therapy Assistants
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and ensure Speech and Language Therapy goals are embedded in the overall patient management
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of service-wide initiatives and projects
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A recognized Speech and Language Therapy degree
  • Health Professions Council licence to practise
  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Achievement of Dysphagia competencies
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist postgraduate short courses relevant to the adult caseload
  • Membership/attendance to Special Interest Groups relevant to the post
