Job Description

The Buying Director will be responsible for developing and implementing robust buying strategies that align with our goals and strengthen our market position. This role demands a proactive leader who can effectively oversee a large and varied product range, nurture supplier relationships, and identify new opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the buying team to develop and execute strategies that optimize product selection and cost-efficiency.
  • Oversee and manage the procurement of over 150,000 products, ensuring quality and market relevance.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships, negotiating terms to maximize profitability.
  • Monitor UK market trends, competitor activities, and emerging industry practices to inform buying strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with finance, operations, and sales teams to align the buying strategy with overall business objectives.
  • Manage the team's performance, providing guidance and development opportunities to foster a high-performing buying department.
  • Ensure compliance with UK procurement regulations and uphold ethical sourcing practices.

What We're Looking For:

  • Extensive experience as a Buying Director or senior procurement leader within a wholesale or large-scale retail environment in the UK.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Expert negotiation and supplier management abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complex product portfolios and data-driven decision-making.
