Senior Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our UK South Construction business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the estimated cost of a project is prepared accurately and consistently, taking into account the methods of construction and all circumstances that may affect the execution of the work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure tender documents, addendums, and client correspondence are logged and relevant team members are issued with copies.
  • Produce sub-contractor enquiry schedules, obtaining suggestions and feedback from the tender team and procurement department.
  • Issue sub-contractor enquiries, including scope of works and attendance schedules.
  • Establish competition and arrange production of B/Q's where required.
  • Undertake spot checks on measures and bill descriptions.
  • Chase tender returns and update enquiry schedules.
  • Raise tender queries and develop and fill gaps in tender.
  • Incorporate late changes and tender amendments.
  • Assist in the collation of tender risk and opportunity assessment.
  • Produce documents for tender settlement and present clear nett costings.
  • Attend adjudication and make notes of resultant amendments.
Management Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the training and development of Estimators and Assistant/Graduate Estimators.
  • Undertake PDP's with direct reports and drive through actions and activities identified in individual development plans.
  • Assist in the development and management of bid budgets.
  • Carry out regular tender reviews and review the risk register on bids.
Requirements:
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills to accurately evaluate detailed specifications, cost, and risk.
  • Detail-oriented with a detailed knowledge of the latest processes, materials, and costs.
  • Familiarity with Conquest/Causeway/Coins or similar estimating software.
  • Good communication and time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Professionally qualified RICS/MCIOB or similar.
  • At least 5-15 years experience in construction.
