About the Role:
As a critical member of our Ward team, you will support and assist Registered Nurses in the assessment, planning, and implementation of patient care. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver care to patients as prescribed by individual care plans and liaise with family members as appropriate.
The nature of this role necessitates frequent interaction with staff, patients, and visitors on the ward, involving regular exchange of routine information in person and over the telephone. Developing observational and listening skills are essential for monitoring the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of patients.
You will work in a challenging environment where problems faced by patients may present difficult situations, heightening the physical, sensory, and emotional demands of the role. Your well-developed interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of all patients.
- Provide practical support and responsive care to patients requiring assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing, and toileting activities, ensuring compliance with procedures and relevant healthcare legislation.
- Observe and monitor the wellbeing of patients, promptly referring any unusual physical, mental, or emotional occurrences to senior staff/the primary nurse and documenting as appropriate.
- Participate in specific interventions with patients delegated by a Registered Nurse, following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include observation and engagement with patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression.
- Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
- Assist in maintaining stock levels, including pharmaceutical products.
- Contribute to maintaining ward cleanliness and tidiness, adhering to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
- Develop professional relationships with patients, colleagues, and visitors, responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
- Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of patients, relatives, and carers.
- Evaluate service users' satisfaction with their experience and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner, ensuring all visitors are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.
Working Environment:
This role is based within our Priory Group Division, specifically within the Healthcare sector. You will be working in a dynamic environment where collaboration and effective communication are key to delivering exceptional patient care.
About Us:
