About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic to join our team at Thrive Oldham. As a key member of our Fleet Services team, you will be responsible for the service and repair of plant equipment in a safe, efficient, and economic manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive and maneuver plant equipment as necessary, recovering defective or damaged equipment, and carrying out technical checks and diagnostic tests.
  • Observe, recognize, and report on plant component or system defects, assessing and recording the repair as appropriate.
  • Carry out routine inspections, service, and repairs of selected plant in the LCC fleet according to schedules issued by the Stores Depot, adhering to prescribed quality standards.
  • Examine equipment, reporting verbally or in writing on its condition, roadworthiness, and safety.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs and adjustments as required, under the instruction of prescribed quality standards.
  • Interpret and implement technical service instruction data and manufacturers' modifications, maintaining a personal tool kit, special tools, and equipment in good condition.
  • Participate in departmental standby rota responsibilities and work outside of normal working hours as required.
  • Hold a valid driving license and provide own transport.
Requirements
  • Hold a Level 3 qualification in plant maintenance or an equivalent alternative.
  • Have experience working in a fleet workshop or garage.
  • Understand Health and Safety Policy and its application to your role.
  • Have evidence of diagnosing mechanical faults and using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Possess good written and verbal communication, liaison, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be able to plan, organize, and prioritize work within tight time scales.
  • Respond confidently to customers and colleagues with understanding and diplomacy, maintaining an objective and professional stance.
Working Hours and Remuneration

7.4 hours, 5 days a week, £16.26 per hour.
