Job Title: Placement Officer

Hatched Recruitment Group is seeking a skilled Placement Officer to join our team. As a Placement Officer, you will play a crucial role in sourcing private and voluntary placements for children and young people aged 0-25.

Job Purpose:

The successful candidate will work in a small team serving two councils, sourcing placements in a range of settings, including foster care, residential children's homes, and semi-independent living accommodation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of placement finding, including responding to duty inquiries, managing the duty inbox, and receiving and managing referral forms.
  • Ensuring the profile of the child/young person provides a balanced portrait of their needs and making recommendations to the Strategic Placements and Planning Manager.
  • Assisting the team and managers in managing the children's placement budget, meeting performance targets, and utilizing management information as required.
Essential Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Sound knowledge of Children's Services, either within a local authority setting or the private and voluntary sector.
  • Sound knowledge of the market of Children's care placements.
  • Ideal qualifications include being a qualified and UK registered social worker.
Desirable Skills and Experience:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Recent experience in commissioning a range of placements for looked-after children and care leavers (ages 0-25).
  • Proven experience of managing a placement duty function on a day-to-day basis.
  • The ability to pursue creative and new ideas to provide solutions to complex problems.
