About the Role

The University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a highly skilled Play Therapist Specialist to join our team. This exciting opportunity will enable you to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Health Play Specialist who can work within the Play Department to implement safe, high-quality play programs that cater to patients' emotional, social, developmental, and creative needs. The successful candidate will respond to referrals from the multidisciplinary team to provide support through play preparation and play programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • To assess patients' needs and provide specialized play, therapeutic distraction, preparation, and post-procedural play.
  • To supervise play assistants, students, and volunteers throughout the hospital.
  • To communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a Foundation Degree (FdA) in Healthcare Play Specialism or equivalent and current HPSET registration or overseas equivalent. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure and manage conflicting demands.
