About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Officer to join our team at North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. As a key member of our Procurement team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective delivery of a portfolio of projects across a wide range of categories, both clinical and non-clinical.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide professional procurement advice to internal customers within the Trust, communicating effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Manage, organise and prioritise own workload and that of others, with the ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and drive change as we look to continually optimise e-procurement systems and increase the scope of the Trust's internal supply chain, logistics and stores (materials management).
  • Work closely with stakeholders to develop and implement procurement strategies that meet the Trust's needs.
  • Ensure compliance with public sector procurement legislation and regulations.
Requirements
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or currently in the process achieving full membership or willingness to complete and work towards MCIPS.
  • General standard of education GCSE or equivalent – Including Mathematics and English.
  • Evidence of continuous personal development (PDP).
  • Willingness to undertake any training as required by the Trust.
Desirable Criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent and/or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • General standard of education A Levels/Diploma or equivalent.
  • Full (manual) UK Clean Driving Licence.
Key Skills and Abilities
  • Good communication and presentation skills appropriate for a wide range of audiences and interests – good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function both as a team player and self-motivator.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to think clearly and remain calm under pressure.
  • Customer Service skills.
  • Computer Literacy (skills) basic knowledge and proficiency of I.T. packages particularly in the use of word processing, spreadsheets and data bases (or commitment to train).
Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience in a Procurement and Supply Environment.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement principles, sourcing, stock management, negotiating, EU Legislation and Procurement Rules and Systems.
  • Knowledge of e-procurement systems and/or experience of both manual and automated stock control systems.
