Learning Facilitator for Neurodiverse Students

North Petherton, Somerset, United Kingdom Phoenix Learning & Care Group Full time

Petherton Park School, situated in a picturesque rural setting, offers a serene environment for students to engage in meaningful learning amidst nature's soothing sounds.

As a Learning Facilitator for Neurodiverse Students, you will have autonomy to depart from traditional methods and design personalized learning experiences catering to each student's unique strengths, interests, and aspirations.

You will work with small class sizes of four students, allowing you to build strong relationships and genuinely comprehend each child's needs.

Imagine teaching math by measuring ingredients to bake cookies, where students learn about fractions and quantities while creating something delicious. Alternatively, perhaps using English lessons to write and follow a recipe for homemade pizza, fostering their understanding of instructions.

You will have access to the cozy library where students can delve into stories and let their imaginations run wild, bringing characters to life through role-play or art projects. These creative activities provide rich, sensory experiences that make learning more engaging and meaningful for every child.

While some of our students may pursue formal qualifications, we recognize that success comes in many forms. Supporting our students as they transition into adulthood is a vital part of our mission.

You will receive comprehensive training and support to ensure our students have the best possible experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading classroom activities, including planning, teaching, and assessing learning, particularly with your assigned class.
  • Monitoring and recording progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes.
  • Working closely with students to keep them engaged, motivated, and inspired to reach their full potential.
  • Providing individualized support to students, either one-on-one or in small group settings, to help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Collaborating with Teaching Assistants to direct them effectively in supporting students.
Salary:

£25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Requirements:
  • Patience, compassion, and resilience - The students you teach will be neurodiverse, which can impact their learning behavior and communication needs.
  • A valid driving license - Our students enjoy learning in various settings, and we have vehicles available for use.
  • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of individuals with diverse needs.
Benefits:
  • Holidays - You will work only during term time (39 weeks).
  • Pension scheme - Our pension scheme requires a 5% contribution from you, with us adding 3%.
  • Learning & Development Opportunities - We provide extensive opportunities for team members to develop themselves.
  • Discounts - You will have access to excellent discounts through the Blue Light Card and our employee benefits platform.
  • Wellbeing Support - Your wellbeing is our top priority. You will have access to mental health and wellbeing support.
  • Cycle2Work - This scheme allows you to purchase a bicycle at a discounted rate.
  • DBS - As this role requires an enhanced DBS check, we will cover the cost.
  • After 12 months of service - You will be eligible for our Medicash scheme, which covers a wide range of medical, health, and wellbeing expenses (including immediate access to a GP). You will also receive life assurance paid at 2 x your annual salary, and additional high street discounts.
