About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Lecturer to join our team at Nottingham College. As an Engineering Lecturer, you will play a vital part in helping our students reach their full potential and achieve their academic and professional goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Design and deliver comprehensive schemes of work and lesson plans that align with curriculum requirements, industry standards, and best practices in engineering education.
  • Teaching and Delivery: Deliver high-quality, engaging, and interactive lectures, workshops, and practical sessions that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a positive learning environment by addressing inappropriate behaviors, monitoring student attendance, and providing necessary support to promote academic success.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Design and implement a variety of assessment methods to evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to encourage their academic and professional growth.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Project Management to ensure that course content remains current and relevant.
  • Project Supervision: Facilitate and supervise student projects, offering guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to help students achieve their learning objectives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to continuously improve the curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to the overall development of the engineering department.
  • Industry Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with industry professionals and organizations to enhance learning opportunities for students through guest lectures, site visits, internships, and partnerships.
  • Resource Management: Manage classroom resources, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe, well-maintained, and effective learning environment.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching methodologies and stay abreast of technological advancements in the engineering field.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Level 5 qualification in Engineering with a specialization in Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • Proven experience in teaching or training within the field of engineering, with a strong track record of student success.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring and motivating a diverse student body.
  • A proactive and innovative approach to teaching, with a commitment to continuous professional and academic improvement.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design, particularly within an engineering context.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools, including Multisim, Circuit Wizard, SolidWorks, and other relevant engineering design and simulation software.
  • A solid understanding of current trends and future directions in engineering education, particularly in the fields of Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
  • The ability to engage with a diverse student population, with a demonstrated ability to adapt teaching methods to meet varying learning needs.
