Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom Holtec International Full time

The Position is offered by Holtec Britain as a member of the Holtec International family, a global turnkey supplier of equipment and systems for nuclear, solar, geothermal, and fossil power generation sectors since 1986.

As a Project Manager with a proven track record specializing in rapid deployments, you will lead a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of Corporate Associates and Contractors, both engineers and nuclear licensing specialists, tasked with developing a Preliminary Safety Case for the UK Generic Design Assessment of the Holtec SMR-300 within a challenging timeframe. Your role will demand a confident and strong persona, coupled with the ability to lead by example to set an aggressive pace, positively encouraging and supporting team members as needed for their and the team's and project's success. Reporting to Holtec Britain's Managing Director, and with Holtec International Corporate executive support, you will be responsible for orchestrating a swift and effective project launch and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Immediate Project Immersion:

  • Dive into the project from day one, demonstrating the ability to quickly grasp complex technical and regulatory aspects and deliverables associated with safety case development, harmonizing a US-centric nuclear power plant design specification with UK regulator needs and expectations. The project requires development of a practical articulated resource-loaded schedule to be implemented as immediately as possible, that facilitates effective project management and delivery for efficient work streams management in concert with requisite project controls and cost reporting requirements.

Confident and Effective Leadership:

  • Lead by example, showcasing a strong and confident leadership style to instruct and motivate a diverse matrixed team, while instilling a sense of urgency.
  • Set an accelerated pace that comports with a practical and believable schedule and work plan, while maintaining a focus on quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Rapidly assemble and mobilize a high-performing cross-functional team, inspiring a collective commitment to meet aggressive project milestones.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement an expedited project plan in concert with Holtec Britain MD and Safety Case Lead, emphasizing efficiency and precision to navigate the condensed timeline effectively.
  • Streamline processes without compromising quality or compliance.
  • Coordinate with Company executives for a project delivery that achieves UK GDA objectives for the SMR-300 program, while maximizing value to the US design development project(s) and objectives.

Dynamic Problem Solving:

  • Demonstrate agility in identifying and resolving challenges swiftly, employing creative problem-solving skills and acumen.

Proactive Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Establish strong and immediate connections with key stakeholders – internal and external - ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals.
  • Provide regular updates and solicit feedback to facilitate rapid decision-making.

Resource Optimization:

  • Efficiently allocate resources to maximize productivity, leveraging a responsive and adaptive approach to resource management.
  • Anticipate potential risks and proactively implement mitigation actions, fostering a culture of resilience and adaptability.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven track record of successfully jumping into complex projects for a fast start, demonstrating the ability to lead confidently and set a rapid pace.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline; APM or PMP certification desirable.
  • Extensive experience in project management within the nuclear industry, with a focus on safety case development (desired but not mandatory).
  • In-depth knowledge of ONR regulations and requirements, as particularly relevant to Generic Design Assessment requirements and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a track record of leading high-performance teams in time-sensitive environments.
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects with accelerated schedules and constraints.
