Nuclear Structural Engineering Career Opportunities

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team working on Nuclear New Build projects in the UK.

">

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear structural engineering, with experience in designing and analysing reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants.

">

The role will involve managing and leading an international team responsible for critical buildings within the Nuclear Island, performing structural calculations and Finite Element modelling, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

">

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

">

  • ">
  • Managing and leading an international team responsible for critical buildings within the Nuclear Island.">
  • Designing and analysing reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.">
  • Performing structural calculations and Finite Element modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software and tools.">
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as Eurocode, ETC-C.">
  • Collaborating with detailing team including drafting team, BIM Coordinator, and other designer engineers as well as the technical direction team.">
  • Conducting calculations and structural assessments of design changes.">
  • Preparing detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.">
  • Working closely with construction contractors and site teams.">
  • Collaborating with the client, construction team, and the principal designer as well as regulatory bodies and authorities.">

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

">

  • ">
  • A degree in Civil Structural Engineering or a related field.">
  • Extensive experience in nuclear structural engineering, preferably with a Master's degree.">
  • Sound knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations, and standards governing the design and construction of nuclear power plant structures.">
  • Proficiency in using structural analysis software, such as ANSYS, SAP2000, or similar tools.">
  • Familiarity with structural analysis Finite Element software, such as ANSYS APDL, Robot, or similar tools.">
  • A strong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.">
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities.">
