About the Role

The Great Ormond Street Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Paediatrician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to provide clinical leadership and input to our NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) clinics.

As a Consultant Paediatrician, you will provide a paediatric opinion as part of a multidisciplinary team for children and young people. You will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff, as well as being a source of clinical expertise to the multidisciplinary team.

This role offers opportunities to take a key role in a number of exciting service development and research initiatives. You will work collaboratively with a wide multidisciplinary team including paediatricians, mental health practitioners, youth workers, nurses, speech and language therapists, and occupational therapists.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and young people with complex health care needs, including neurodevelopmental issues, and have a record of active involvement in clinical governance, audit, and management. They will also have experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and input to NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) clinics
  • Provide a paediatric opinion as part of a multidisciplinary team for children and young people
  • Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to junior staff
  • Be a source of clinical expertise to the multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to service development and research initiatives
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • MRCPC by examination or equivalent
  • Eligible for full UK GMC/GDC registration and a Licence to Practise
  • Completed a minimum of 18 months higher specialist training in a relevant paediatric subspecialty, including Community Child Health, Adolescent Health, Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics / Neurodisability, safeguarding
  • On GDC/GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT in relevant paediatric sub-specialty
  • Able to demonstrate having achieved the competencies equivalent to the Highest Specialist Paediatric Training
  • Demonstrable continuous professional development
