Job Title: Welfare Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and caring individual to join our team as a Welfare Assistant. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children and is committed to providing exceptional care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the children in their daily activities, including personal hygiene and general care and supervision.
  • Assist with the welfare and supervision of pupils before or after meals, in the playground, hall, corridors, and classrooms.
  • Provide emergency treatment for accidents and record such treatment.
  • Report all accidents/illnesses to the Head Teacher.
  • Carry out responsibilities under common law and the Health and Safety Act, and adhere to the school's health and safety policy.
  • Maintain discipline during the lunch break and promote adherence to the school's behaviour and anti-bullying policies.
  • Ensure that local authority policies on equality are adhered to, and promote adherence to the school's code of conduct.
  • Report any matters involving child protection immediately to the Headteacher.
  • Develop good relationships with the children and other professionals.
  • Be aware of school procedures and follow school policies, including Safeguarding Children.
Requirements:
  • NVQ level 2 in Childcare or equivalent.
  • At least 12 months experience of working in a successful early year setting.
  • An understanding of child development, 0-5 years.
  • Ability to keep records pertaining to individual children.

  • Food Hygiene certificate.
  • Health and Safety certificate.
  • Worked in a successful nursery setting.
Education:

GCSE or equivalent (preferred).

Location:

Blackburn.

Language:

English (Required).

Hours of Work:

Part-time/Full-time with flexible option.

Pay:

Negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.

Holiday Entitlement:

Pro Rata.
