Are you a skilled mechanical fitter looking for a challenging role in the rail industry? We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter - Rail Specialist to join our team at Ganymede Solutions.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team. As a Mechanical Fitter - Rail Specialist, you will be responsible for the maintenance of train interiors, ensuring that all fittings and fixtures are presentable, functional, and safe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality checks and carry out repairs on specified fittings and fixtures within train interiors.
  • Perform basic mechanical fitting, general condition maintenance, graffiti removal, and heavy cleaning.
  • Proactively manage inventory levels of materials, machines, and tools, and promptly report any shortages.
  • Act as the first line of response to any faults or damage within train interiors, observing and monitoring the condition of fixtures and fittings.
  • Ensure that all work carried out is recorded correctly and meets the required standards.
  • Work to the necessary HSEQ requirements at all times to ensure the safety of yourself, colleagues, and customers.
  • Undertake relevant training and competency assessments related to the role responsibilities.

As this role is working in a live rail depot, we will require all successful applicants to pass a rail standard drugs & alcohol test prior to start and they will be subject to the client's policy of random testing throughout their engagement.

Requirements
  • Competent in basic mechanical fitting tasks.
  • Experience in the rail sector is desirable, but we welcome applicants from any trades, engineering, production, or facilities maintenance backgrounds.
  • Ability to work to high standards in a safety-critical environment.
  • Good team player.
  • Organised and able to prioritise workload.
  • Current PTS would be highly desirable; however, training can be provided.

We welcome applications from candidates with a facilities maintenance / management background, train care, rail operatives, site maintenance, production / mechanical assembly, vehicle building, mechanical fitting, or general maintenance background.
