About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker to join our Endoscopy Department at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the decontamination of endoscopes and other specialized equipment, ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and safety.
  • Assist qualified staff with simple accessorizing during procedures, under close supervision.
  • Support the Endoscopist with patient care and preparation for procedures.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and organization of the Endoscopy Department, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Person Specification

  • Essential Qualifications
    • NVQ/QCF Diploma Level 2 or equivalent qualification in healthcare.
    • GCSE English grade G/1 (or above) or Functional Skills English level 1.
    • GCSE maths grade G/1 (or above) or Functional Skills maths level 1.
    • Completion of the Care Certificate (or willingness to undertake).
  • Desirable Qualifications
    • Decontamination training.
    • NVQ Level 2 in direct care.
    • Technicians' Training course in GI Endoscopy.
  • Essential Experience
    • Understanding of the CSW role in Endoscopy.
    • Minimum of 1 year full-time equivalent experience as a Healthcare Support Worker or Trainee in a care setting.
  • Desirable Experience
    • Knowledge of the design & function of endoscopes and decontamination issues.
  • Essential Skills
    • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
    • Positive attitude to learning.
    • Able to work under supervision.
    • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Desirable Skills
    • Ability to assist in training in decontamination.
