About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and skilled Bank Mammographer to join our Breast Screening team based at the Jarvis Centre in Guildford, Surrey. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to delivering high-quality breast screening services to women in Surrey and NE Hants. Your expertise and knowledge of mammography will enable you to take high-quality images, participating in assessment clinics and working collaboratively with Consultant Radiologists, Associate Breast Clinicians, Advanced Practitioners, and other healthcare professionals. Your Key Responsibilities:
  • To take high-quality mammograms using digital equipment.
  • To participate in quality assurance programmes, ensuring adherence to NHS standards.
  • To indirectly supervise and mentor Assistant Practitioners in their daily tasks.
  • To prepare and assist in biopsy procedures, targeting stereotactic examinations as required.
  • To participate in a rota to cover work on mobile screening sites.
  • To ensure sufficient supplies are available at mobile sites and arrange transportation when necessary.
  • To maintain competence in using all clinical equipment used by the Service.
  • To keep up-to-date with current trends and techniques in mammography and provide expert advice on breast health and screening.
  • To communicate effectively with clients, dealing with nervous or anxious individuals with empathy and professionalism.
  • To record clinical observations as part of the screening process.
  • To be confident and professional when positioning clients who are naked from the waist up.
  • To enter all quality assurance data on the computer system.
  • To deal with equipment malfunction and know when to suspend its use.
  • To abide by Ionising Radiation Regulations at all times.
  • To identify films suitable for teaching purposes.


What You'll Need:
  • BSc in Radiography
  • PG Cert in Mammography
  • HCPC registration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to diverse client needs.
  • A strong team player with excellent leadership qualities, able to motivate and guide colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain and demonstrate technical knowledge for breast imaging and continue to refine analytical/technical skills.


Salary and Benefits: The estimated salary range for this position is £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, life insurance, and generous annual leave entitlement.
