Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) invites applications for a Specialty Doctor position within the Learning Disability Services division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide clinical leadership and work closely with a supportive team of psychiatrists.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical input to patients under supervision from designated Consultant Psychiatrists. The post holder will attend all relevant mandatory training as required and participate in regular meetings to discuss patient care and service development.

This Specialty Doctor position is attached to the Learning Disability Services in Peterborough, with a focus on providing medical support to patients with complex needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry, with experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.

Peterborough Team Description:

  • To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to mental health, particularly for people with learning disabilities.
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest standard, and in accordance with currently quality initiatives within the work area.

Other Responsibilities:

  • To take a clinical lead under the supervision of the Consultant.
  • To make decisions and carry out responsibilities without direct supervision.
  • To participate in regular meetings to discuss patient care and service development.

Person Specification:

  • Essential:
    • Full GMC registration and licence to practice.
    • MBBS or equivalent.
    • Eligible for approval under Section 12 of the MHA 1983.
  • Desirable:
    • MRCPsych or equivalent.
