Morson Talent is partnering with a leading player in the Energy Sector to find a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their site-based team in Somerset. This is a contract position, working 3 days a week on-site and 2 days remotely.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be part of a multi-national Joint Design Office team responsible for reviewing and accepting engineering queries and problems from site construction. The role involves reviewing and accepting engineering queries raised by the site contractor on the Equipment scope across the Conventional Island/Balance of Plant and Nuclear Island buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to general queries, non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests originating from the MEH and NSSS contractor on site.
- Provide oversight to ensure Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.
- Challenge design decisions to ensure engineering and design align with the project strategy.
- Assist in coordinating support from other external organizations.
- Contribute to the resolution and closure of open points.
- Assess technical risk and address it accordingly.
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience in Equipment design, installation, and/or commissioning.
- Specific in-depth experience in one of: pumps, valves, heat exchangers, or pressure equipment.
- Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within a highly regulated industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the construction/installation industry.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements (desirable).
- Experience in understanding welding engineering.
- Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
- Ability to work independently, be proactive, report on, and escalate relevant issues.
