Child and Family Practitioner

Midlothian Council is seeking a highly skilled Child and Family Practitioner to join our Children and Young People's Practice Team.
As part of our team, you will work closely with children and young people from 0-26 years, their families, and multi-agency partners to provide a wide range of support services.
Our team is dedicated to promoting the safety, wellbeing, and resilience of children and families in Midlothian. We work collaboratively to address the complex needs of children and young people, providing initial assessments, advice, support, and short-term interventions.
We are looking for a practitioner who is confident in their ability to work effectively with children, young people, and their families, and who can demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will be able to work within the Local Authority's statutory responsibilities, national and local practice, policy, procedure, and legislation relevant to the service area. They will also have knowledge and understanding of systemic interventions and methodologies such as attachment, child development, and relationship-based approaches.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Undertake initial assessments, provide advice, support, and short-term interventions for children and young people and their families
- Work closely with multi-agency partners to address the complex needs of children and young people
- Develop and maintain relationships with children, young people, and their families
- Contribute to the development of practice policies and procedures
- Participate in continuous professional development and training
**Requirements:**
- BA Social Work qualification or equivalent DipSW, CQSW, and SSSC registration
- Experience of working with children and families
- Knowledge and understanding of systemic interventions and methodologies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
**Salary and Benefits:**
This is a permanent post with a salary of £41,034 per annum, based on a 36-hour working week.
