Job Title: Apprenticeship Quality Assurance Officer

Location: Knaresborough area - A1 access commutable from North Leeds, Harrogate, Bradford etc.

This is a rotating days based role.

As a Quality Assurance Officer, you will be responsible for providing technical quality support to the technical department, ensuring the safety, quality, and legality of products.

You will work closely with the Site Technical and Operations teams to maintain production quality.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Assist in maintaining site packing standards and product quality through line checks.
  • Investigate customer complaints and assist in site investigations as required.
  • Manage systems including system audits and ensure compliance.
  • Investigate quality incidents, liaising with operations and engineering departments to identify causes and corrective/preventative action.
  • Monitor, control, and audit the production process.
  • Ensure conformity and non-conformity are communicated, followed up, and closed off.
  • Apply root cause analysis to investigate incidents.
  • Support the leadership team during external accreditation.
  • Conduct internal audits and routine Food Safety inspections.
  • Carry out site traceability exercises.
  • Prepare for audits and ensure readiness.
Requirements:
  • Graduate calibre, knowledge of food legislation and food safety principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to influence and challenge.
  • Experience in a Food, FMCG, or related manufacturing environment.
  • Internal audit training.
  • Food Safety Level 2 ideal.
  • Ability to work quickly, accurately, and safely.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and 'can do' attitude.
  • Team player and effective communicator.
  • Good PC skills, especially Google.
  • Food experience in a technical or similar role.
  • HACCP qualification or food safety qualification (ideally).
  • Awareness of computer-based programmes like Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
