About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to start a career in livestock procurement at a leading meat producer in the UK.

As a Livestock Buyer, your primary focus will be on procuring a set number of cattle and sheep required by the abattoir each week.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be an effective communicator who can build relationships with suppliers and negotiate the purchase of their livestock.

You will also need to be driven, well-organized, and able to meet strict procurement quotas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with farmers and suppliers
  • Cattle grading
  • Negotiate purchase prices
  • Ensure consistent supply of cattle in line with procurement targets
  • Visit farms/suppliers
  • Ensure livestock deliveries are on schedule
  • Work 3-4 days per week in the office and 1-2 days per week in the field

About You:

To be considered for this position, you must have commercial beef/sheep farming experience.

Full training and support will be provided.

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of beef/sheep production
  • Good communication skills
  • Organized and able to work under pressure
  • Target-driven
  • UK driving license
