Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Genomics of Sepsis

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at the University of Oxford. The successful candidate will be based at the Centre for Human Genetics (CHG) and will work closely with Professor Julian Knight and his team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse large datasets arising from the programme, including NGS, qPCR and RNA-seq data, as well as electronic health records.
  • Develop novel methodologies for analysis and data collection, informatics structures to manage large datasets, and machine learning models for patient stratification.
  • Produce high-quality scientific reports and publications for top-tier journals, including taking leadership in more specialized publications on novel aspects of bioinformatics.
  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team, including close liaison with members of the Knight group and collaborators in Danaher and Cepheid.
  • Develop and maintain relevant computer code, and apply computational and statistical methodologies and algorithms.

Requirements:

  • PhD/DPhil in Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Mathematics and Physics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience of computational genomics and/or bioinformatics, together with functional genomic analysis.
  • Strong publication record with evidence of high self-motivation and ambition.
  • Experience of scientific computing using at least one programming language, and excellent analytical and quantitative skills.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary of £47,085 to £49,850 per annum, inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per year.
  • A fixed-term contract until 30th September 2027, funded by the Danaher Corporation.
