About the Role

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Graduate to join our Offshore Wind team at RWE AG. As a key member of our team, you will gain valuable knowledge and experience in the electrical engineering system design of Offshore wind projects, including the interfaces from the Transmission System to Onshore/Offshore substations and Wind Turbine Generators.

You will actively support the team in working across the whole project lifecycle from development through to construction and operation, ensuring a robust through life design of the project's electrical system. This will include the definition of the main electrical system design for the project, covering all aspects of the onshore and offshore HVAC and HVDC systems, as well as the creation of simulation models for electrical systems and the analysis of electrical system behaviour and grid code compliance for projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gain valuable knowledge and experience of electrical engineering system design, including the interfaces from the Transmission System to Onshore/Offshore substations and Wind Turbine Generators
  • Actively support the team in working across the whole project lifecycle from development through to construction and operation
  • Define the main electrical system design for the project, covering all aspects of the onshore and offshore HVAC and HVDC systems
  • Create simulation models for electrical systems and analyze electrical system behaviour and grid code compliance for projects

Requirements and Experience

  • Enrolled student in Electrical Engineering
  • Eligible for a year in industry placement
  • On track to graduate with a 2.1 or higher
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate own workload and meet tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a diverse team environment and dealing with a range of stakeholders
  • Open to travel to other sites if needed, with travel expenses covered

Advantageous, but not Essential

  • Knowledge and/or experience of electrical power engineering, electrical systems and design, as well as plant and electrical distribution
