Red Snapper Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Housing Lawyer to join their team in London. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in housing law and be able to provide expert advice to client departments on housing matters.

Main Purpose of Post

To provide legal advice on and manage a caseload of housing matters including rent arrears, housing possession, housing fraud, ASB, encroachments/trespass, service charge arrears, disrepair, homelessness including s204 appeals and JR, breach of leasehold covenants and other general debt recovery, including attending Court and undertaking appropriate advocacy.

Main duties and responsibilities
  1. To provide expert advice to client departments on housing law and deal with housing possession casework such as matters relating to non-payment of rent, anti-social behaviour, access, unauthorised occupation and including non-occupation, unlawful sub-letting, disrepair, Injunctions (access and ASB), Homelessness, and any other housing matters.
  2. To deal with breaches of covenant, leasehold service charges recovery, and other debt cases including non-payment of commercial rents.
Person Specification
  1. Must have the qualification to be a solicitor which is having undertaken the Legal Practice Course.
  • Experience of public sector housing litigation.
  • Experience of advocacy in the County Court.
  • Experience of researching into different areas of law – DESIRABLE
Other Requirements
  1. Ability to travel and attend Court/Tribunals as required.
  2. A willingness to undertake appropriate technical training.
