F Smales & Son (Fish Merchants) Ltd is a family-owned business with a rich history dating back to 1937. As the UK's largest supplier of frozen-at-sea whitefish, they cater to the UK's fish and chip shop and restaurant sector, as well as leading food service wholesalers and hospitality brands. With a weekly delivery to over 2,000 customers across the UK, Smales also offers a diverse range of seafood and other food products.

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile individual to join our Finance and Administration team in Hull. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be an all-rounder with a strong background in finance. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reporting to the Financial Director.
  2. Leading the Finance and Administration Departments.
  3. Serving as a key point of contact with other departments, suppliers, solicitors, property advisors, and external auditors.
  4. Preparing weekly profit forecasts, monthly management accounts, and financial information for the Company's year-end statutory accounts.
  5. Developing the Company's budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  6. Overseeing the Company's payroll process and ensuring timely payment of taxation liabilities.
  7. Maintaining the Company's statutory records and completing Companies House filings.
  8. Managing the Company's pension and life assurance schemes.
  9. Performing various ad hoc financial exercises.

Personal Specification:

We are looking for a fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CA / CIMA) who is energetic and willing to be involved in all aspects of the business.
