Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Community Development Worker to join our team in one of our three prisons in London. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of gang activity and violence reduction strategies, as well as experience working with young adults in challenging environments.

As a Community Development Worker, you will be responsible for managing prisoner caseloads, assessing needs and risks, and delivering training and workshops to raise awareness and develop capacity in gangs, youth violence, vulnerability, exploitation, conflict resolution, and mediation.

You will work closely with existing teams to deliver services such as Exploitation Gangs and Debt, Mediation and Conflict Resolution, Peer Mentoring, and Purposeful Activity. Your ability to motivate and engage prisoners, as well as your focus on performance and meeting deadlines, will be essential in achieving targets.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Awareness of young adults' needs, gangs, exploitation, and violence reduction strategies
  • Knowledge of London's local context and gang activity areas
  • Understanding of agencies in criminal justice, secure estate, social care, housing, health, ETE, and voluntary sectors, and relevant referral processes
