Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 6 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will provide support to the child in engaging with the curriculum, managing daily school routines, and developing social and emotional skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to a Year 6 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ASD-specific strategies.
- Support the child's academic, social, and emotional development.
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCo, and parents to monitor progress and adjust support as needed.
- Promote independence and encourage positive behaviour and engagement in school life.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with ASD or special educational needs.
- A patient, calm, and understanding approach to working with children who have additional needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A passion for helping children with ASD thrive in an educational setting.
- A knowledge of ASD strategies is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided.
