The position will be based in our Glasgow office, providing IT support via WGM's IT Service Management system as well as over the telephone and will run over a period of 30 months.

WGM (in partnership with QA Apprenticeships) have devised a programme of blended learning (split between on the job with mentoring/guidance from peers) as well as formalised training from QA Apprenticeships. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to progress to a full time role on completion of this programme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the IT team to provide first-line support to all staff across all WGM locations.
  • Learn to record all issues via the IT Service Desk.
  • Always provide excellent customer service – ensuring effective communication is maintained throughout.
  • Learn to manage staff changes ensuring you liaise with the appropriate business stakeholders in line with WGM's "One Team" approach.
  • PC device management – manage the logistics involved in old device replacement & new device issue.
  • Software management – manage standard and non-standard software deployments including the evaluation process to add to WGM IT's software estate.
  • Active Directory & other tracking/database maintenance – perform user detail changes when needed to maintain accuracy of this important resource.
  • Assist in WGM IT asset management ensuring accurate records are kept.
  • Learn Hardware and Software basic fault diagnosis, liaison with suppliers on fault resolution.
  • Peripheral item management - maintaining stock levels, issuing new items to staff and maintaining records.
  • Liaise with 3rd parties regarding old equipment disposal.

To be considered for this position, you will be a recent school or college leaver with a passion to work within the IT sector and have at least 4 x Nat 5 including maths and English, due to the funding associated with the role, candidates applying for the position must be aged between 16-19 years of age and show a real passion to learn and develop your skillset.
