Academic Mentor and English Educator

We are seeking an experienced Academic Mentor and English Educator to join our team at YoungEducation Tutors in Hertford. As a passionate advocate for education, you will play a vital role in helping students excel in their English language & Literature skills.
This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable individual to make a meaningful impact on the academic development of students at KS3, GCSE, and/or A-level. You will provide personalised instruction tailored to each student's unique learning needs and goals.
As an Academic Mentor and English Educator, you will help students enhance their reading and writing abilities, improve their grammar and vocabulary, and develop strong analytical thinking. You will foster a supportive and engaging learning environment, creating a love for English and instilling confidence in students.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the curriculum at KS3, GCSE, and/or A level and be able to adapt their teaching approach to cater to different learning styles. You will work closely with students who may require additional support, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) such as Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and Childhood trauma.
Responsibilities- Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions with students at KS3, GCSE, and/or A-level
- Assess students' learning needs and develop personalised lesson plans
- Provide guidance and support to students in improving their reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary skills
- Help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills through close reading and textual analysis
- Prepare students for examinations, including mock tests and practice papers
- Monitor students' progress and provide regular feedback to parents and guardians
You will also collaborate with other tutors and academic staff to optimise student learning outcomes. We offer ongoing training opportunities that count towards your CPD and a dedicated Tuition Manager who will work closely with you to ensure you have as much work as you are able to fulfill.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Proven experience as an English tutor, preferably at KS3, GCSE, and/or A level
- Strong knowledge of the English curriculum at KS3, GCSE, and A level
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
- Ability to engage and motivate students of different abilities
- Patience and empathy when working with students who may require additional support
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles
We offer a competitive pay rate of £35 per hour, paid weekly or monthly, giving you control over your workload and flexibility around your existing commitments and availability.
