About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled transport planner to join Transport for Greater Manchester and contribute to shaping the borough's transportation priorities.

As a Transport Planner Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the council has the right transport evidence and proposals in place to capitalise on new government investment under the Single Settlement for Greater Manchester.

You will work closely with colleagues across the council, and with TfGM, other transport providers and appointed consultants to advance the borough's transport priorities.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to work well in partnership and collaboratively on highly complex matters, and a passion to deliver effective and responsive transport evidence that is meaningful and responsive to everyone living, working and visiting Wigan Borough.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To develop and implement transport strategies that align with the council's goals and objectives.
  • To work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving transportation infrastructure and services.
  • To analyse data and provide insights to inform decision-making.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as transport planning, urban planning, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in transport planning, preferably in a local authority or similar environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
