About the Role:

RPS Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. As a key member of the design business, you will be responsible for delivering projects across multiple sectors, including residential housing, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out detailed mechanical building services design engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects
  • Assisting senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages
  • Attending design team meetings and inspecting mechanical building services systems
  • Undertaking mechanical design work, including surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects
  • Working with other design team members to ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements
  • Selecting and specifying products, equipment, and installation standards for mechanical services

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in designing principle mechanical systems, including ventilation, chilled water, comfort cooling, and heating systems
  • Proficient in using Hevacomp, IES, or equivalent software
  • Ability to view and interpret drawings in AutoCAD
  • Understanding of Building Regulations Part L compliance
