The organisation boasts a high-performing team dedicated to making a difference across the UK, with this particular role being fully remote.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our senior finance team, driving forward continuous improvements across the function.

  • Prepare accurate and timely VAT (partial exemption) and corporation tax returns for the society.
  • Ensure the Unit4 system and internal processes across the group remain compliant with required tax legislation, staying alert to any future changes.
  • Compile and communicate relevant tax guidance and training wherever needed within the group (finance and senior stakeholders in other directorates).
  • Proactively manage relationships with external advisors and HMRC, answering requests, seeking advice, and communicating any issues and/or solutions on a timely basis.
  • Assist in preparing financial audits, preparation of financial statements, and liaise with auditors to provide required support.
  • Responsible for other statutory compliance reporting as deemed necessary.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations as required.
The Successful Applicant

A successful Permanent Financial Accountant should possess:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in a financial accounting role within the charity sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and standards (VAT & Charity SORP).
  • Proficiency in financial software and databases.
