About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced educator to join our team as a Sports Education Specialist at Higford School, part of Options Autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • To plan, deliver, and teach physical education lessons to students with varying complex needs, in accordance with the school's curriculum framework and related policies.
  • To monitor, record, and report on student progress in liaison with all education staff, ensuring individualised learning plans are implemented effectively.
  • To promote the physical, educational, and moral development of students, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of an environment and programme of learning for each student, ensuring progression at an appropriate and satisfactory rate.
  • To work collaboratively with class teachers to plan and deliver lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
Requirements
  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Physical Education, Sports Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience working with students with autism and complex needs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in sports education and special education.
